How I Met Your Old God

It is one of the things that does not happen too often for your average mortal on Azeroth, meeting an Old God and live to say about it. And even more rare are the times when it ends up being just . . . well, legendary.

This time we focus on one of the most flourishing members of us, Deghos, and his success on finally reaching the reward he was chosen to receive as the first one in our guild: Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings. The initial part, collecting the fragments of the shattered hammer of the first Earthen king, naturally took more than a few weeks. And as you know, that is the really easy part of it all. After that we had to gather enough motivated members and go for a challenge that we had not managed to defeat yet, and do this all during the summer when the activity is really not on its highest among our ranks. Achievement such as this is not a little thing for us. So congratulations to Deghos for his new and ancient weapon!

Of course this is not all that has happened since the last news post. The summer time has again affected our news writing and especially raiding activity, but only to a lesser degree as the progress has not totally halted on either 10man or 25man frontiers. Of 25man activity you now know pretty much all the greatest details so far, but the 10man progress in Ulduar has gone forward more swiftly. Two groups have reached Algalon and are at the moment working on him, the devious time limit being the critical progress slowing part here. Many of the people from these two groups also reached Glory of the Ulduar Raider and gained their proto-drakes as as reward.

A Very Scary . . . Late Easter?

Not going to write too many fancy words this time, just a really brief recap of the last couple of weeks. Like you can see from the image, we cleared 25man Ulduar up to and including Yogg-Saron. The competition for the first kills inside Ulduar has been tough even on Vek'nilash, us being the fourth guild to reach this far at the moment. We will see how it will end out when guilds start to dig though the hard mode achievements, but it is good to see that at least the Horde side is really alive and active. And even though we were not the first per se, I think it was the first one on the server with a full bunny team!

Regarding Yogg-Saron, the fight brings a lot of memories from the good old C'thun fight but with a refreshing new twist to things. It is always a pleasure to meet one of them, even though trying to kill them might drive you crazy. Anyhow, this means we have only Algalon left, who requires quite a nice amount of hard modes done before you gain access to him. So those will be of our concern next, and any other achievements we reasonably might be able to gain on our way there. We will see how it goes.

Sisu Does Ulduar, Gets Thwarted by Sandman

This week Ulduar was finally released to the mindless hordes to devour, and we were glad to be counted among them. As usual, Blizzard had some problems with the patch so Wednesday was almost totally lost, what with the instance lag / crashes and then quite a few tries on the bugged Ignis. Fortunately they had fixed most of the problems by Thursday and we were off, killing 3 rather easy bosses until the sandman stopped by and threw some sand in our eyes (what a bastard).

So, our tally is Flame Leviathan, Razorscale, XT-something Deconstructor and Kologarn. Nothing to brag about, but nothing to be ashamed of either. Got some sweet achievements totally by accident too ;)

Oh yeah, we did Emalon too on Wednesday.

It Is Still

Well, yes and no. But it is not yet summer, nor time for summer holiday. The days are getting longer and nights shorter once again, and yet again we do not let that bother us. No big things are happening as everyone is waiting for the next patch, but you can expect to see more about that (and about us) really soon.

Sadly there is still no announced date for the release of patch 3.1 and Ulduar, of which many of us have been eagerly waiting for. It could have been released a bit earlier as the players are getting anxious, but then again hurrying up a release has not recently been the thing with Blizzard. At least the status on Public Test Realm seems to finally show that the waiting will come to an end in a couple of weeks. Well, the free time we have had just means more time to direct our efforts elsewhere. Due to the lack of new content to try to go through, we have been digging through the current ones for some of the harder achievements.

With some luck, we were the 50th guild in Europe to reach The Immortal (at least according to wowprogress.com), and that with 20 players as the raid was originally meant only for Heroic: The Dedicated Few. As a side note, one of the participating 20 members was our beloved bean counter Pehu, the rogue who is also the manager of our virtual finances and who we usually take with us to represent the guild, as can be seen in the attached picture. Quite a few of our members have also gained the achievements for both Glory of the Raider and Heroic: Glory of the Raider during the last few weeks. Not maybe as many as we hoped, but quite a nice number nevertheless. And of course the time has not yet run out to do them. Hopefully we will see some challenges with similar difficulty inside the walls of Ulduar.

Some of you may have also noticed the recently added banner at the bottom of our web pages. The appearance of that means that we managed to gain a sponsorship deal from VentriloServers.biz which among other things is a popular provider of Ventrilo voice communication services. Hopefully the deal will be fruitful for both of the participating sides.
